So Easter will be here before we know it. And this time I’m trying to get an activity or two in before the day actually gets here! So I saw a cute activity that involved Styrofoam eggs and satin flowers and ribbons and pearls. So pretty … and girly. Ugh. That’s the problem with Easter — everything is girly. So I decided to hit walmart after work and see what sort of subs I could do to make up for all this girly-ness.
Step one would be picking out “bold” eggs. Not pastel, not flourescent. Too much pink. The “bold” package had some pink, but they were bold-pink, so that makes it ok. The I found some ribbon – yellow ribbon and blue ribbon. Boy colors – check.
Next I found some of those foamy sticker things. The Spring package. They were somewhat girly – pastels and some flowers. And ducks. The boys each have stuffed ducks, lovingly named “yucky ducky”. 😉 So they’ll appreciate ducks in the mix. And I found some of those tiny pompom things. And a hot glue gun and some glue.
Ok, ready to get craftin’….
Their little fingers got busy peelin’ and stickin’ those things all over the place! If you’d like to do this ~ I’d suggest sticking to the smaller foam stickers. They just work better with the curve of the eggs. Or – just use that hot glue gun a little more vigilantly than we did!
There were smiley faces in the pack too — those were fun. And sunshines. It was a pretty cute mix.
The duck / umbrella combo is a natural!
But we kinda liked em better on paper! -They stuck better that way… And they require a little less hot glue. -They don’t call it “hot” for nuthin’!
Here are a few that we liked a bunch when they were finished:
After we had about a dozen all done we took them outside to put em in the trees. Its such a sweet little punch of color in the leafless trees. Remy hung most of them up for us.
The boys woke up the next morning and they were ready to make more.
